Child Friendly Rainstick Project

Recently my daughter had a project at school to make a musical instrument and she chose to make a rainstick. We wanted an alternative to using nails to slow the fall of the grains and so this is what we came up with.

This large tube came from a sign writer who kindly gave us some roll ends. We filled the tube with twigs from the garden until there were enough to slow the grains fall but not block altogether.

We sealed one end using greaseproof paper and elastic bands.

Then added a mix of pastas and grains

The other end was sealed in the same way and then my daugther decorated
