Eco Kids Crafts – Printing With Fruit & Vegetables

We had hours of fun printing with fruit and vegetables. The kids loved seeing all the different patterns!

Choose a selection of fruit and vegetables, why not visit the reductions section to find fruit and vegetables that are about to go out of date and would otherwise be thrown?

We used, cauliflower, cabbage, onion, garlic, apple, lemon and pepper. Slicing them down the centre ensuring the cut is as straight as possible. The cauliflower, onion and cabbage we cut through the core and the rest we cut across the centre.

We spent time discussing the patterns and what shapes we could spot, both the apples and the peppers were referred to as ‘flowers’.

The cabbage and the cauliflower reminded them of trees, discussing the patterns first helped them decide which colours they wanted to paint them.

Tip – Cut the fruit and vegetables in half the night before to allow them to dry out a little.
