Exhibition Brief & Terms

An eco and upcycled art exhibition for January 2018

We invite you to submit work for our third annual eco & upcycled art exhibition at Banks Mill Studios, Derby.

‘Masquerade’. The aim of the exhibition is to promote the issues affecting the environment through a series of upcycled and eco-friendly artworks.

Submission Guidelines
In order for artwork to qualify for this exhibition, it either needs to have a masquerade theme or alternatively deal with an issue relating to the environment. This theme is not required to be literal and is open to interpretation. It must be constructed in an eco-friendly/upcycled medium. Eco-friendly methods should be used where ever possible.

We will accept a maximum of three submissions per artist.

Submission is no guarantee of participation.

Time scale
Digital images of works must be submitted by 1st October 2017 to –

Successful submissions will be announced 1st November 2017

If successful actual works must be submitted by 1st December 2017

A private view event to launch the exhibition will be held 5:30pm – 8:30pm Saturday, January 6th 2018 All artists are invited to attend.

The exhibition will run from 8th January until 26th January 2017

Public access to the exhibition Mon – Friday 10am – 3pm
Recommend calling ahead to guarantee access.

Private viewing outside of these times will be held by appointment.

The venue for the exhibition is Banks Mill Studio, 71 Bridge Street. Derby. DE1 3LB

Selection Process
Final artworks will be selected based on quality, originality and relevance. Selection panel to be confirmed shortly.

If successful a participation fee of

£20 – members
£25 – non-members

Required by 1st December.

A commission of 10% will be taken from any sales.

2D works must have D-rings attached for hanging. Ideally, these should be placed approx 2cm from the top at the back of the piece.

3D works where possible framed with D-rings or alternative display plinth/mannequin provided. We do have use of a display cabinet for small 3D pieces. Space is limited for large 3D pieces although window plinths are available at the venue.

We will be awarding small prizes, judged by an independent panel. More details to be released prior to the event.

EcoCreate Partners & Employees are able to submit work but will be excluded from the awards process. This does not affect shop owners in the EcoCreate marketplace.

Attendance to the opening night is not compulsory but is preferred. Awards to be presented during the event. Private viewing can be arranged if required.

Delivery & Collection Of Works
Artists are responsible for the delivery and collections of works. If items are sold artists are responsible for delivery if buyers are unable to collect.
