Meet The Judges – Masquerade Eco & Upcycled Art Exhibition

A huge thank you to Joy Pitts, Rachel Caunce & Mary Smith for agreeing to be judges for our third annual exhibition – Masquerade

Nottinghamshire based artist Joy Pitts is well known for her incredible artwork created from clothes labels. We first met Joy at her solo exhibition in 2015 when we interviewed her for our Inspiring Artists series, You can read the interview here Read Interview

Derbyshire based fibre artist Rachel Caunce works mainly with wool, some hand spun and dyed from their own sheep, to create tapestry weavings and baskets/vessels. Rachel is also developing ways to create archetypal figures.  Inspired by her love of nature, she loves the richness and variety of the natural world and the materials within it as well as the changing seasons and the moods they can evoke. Rachel was also our Silver award winner for this year’s Virtual Exhibition Learn More

Mary Smith Artist & Tutor is based at Bank Mill Studios. Her paintings portray an atmospheric likeness to the world around her. The subject matter is always sourced from nature. In some of her paintings, she has used aspects of the landscape to illustrate human feelings.
